Liposuction Permanently Removes Fat
Dr. Galumbeck performs hundreds of laser liposuction surgeries every year. Known as a laser liposuction specialist, he responds to a strong demand for permanent fat removal with great results.
Excess fat accumulates in many areas of the body - knees, hips, thighs, abdomen, arms, neck or face. Many men and women find that they have inherited a family tendency to hold fat in particular areas of the body. "When I look in the mirror I see my mother and aunts" or "I've got my father's love handles" are comments frequently shared by patients.
Even if you eat right and exercise, these fat deposits may resist your efforts to improve your shape. Many people become discouraged about the fat that won't go away from their hips, waist and thighs, despite rigorous exercise programs.
While it is not a replacement for good eating habits and exercise, liposuction is proven to surgically optimize body contour. It selectively removes unwanted fat and unsightly bulges caused by, permanently taking away excess collections of fat cells.
Laser liposuction is the procedure in which a specifically targeted laser scans the exterior of the body in the area from which fat will be removed. A small incision (1/4") is made and the liquid fat is then permanently removed.
With laser assisted liposuction, recovery is very fast. The procedure is performed in the privacy and comfort of our onsite operating suite. Patients are able to return home about one hour after the procedure, and can return to work and social activities in just a few days and are usually exercising within one week.
Compared to the standard tumescent technique, in which fat is scraped from the skin and underlying tissue, laser liposuction allows the body to heal more quickly. Bruising is less, swelling is less, allowing a quick return to work and activities.
With standard liposuction techniques, a compression garment is usually worn postoperatively for 6 to 8 weeks. With laser liposuction, the garment is worn for only 4 days.
Laser liposuction can be performed on all parts of the body. Many Galumbeck patients choose to have liposuction in addition to a second plastic surgery procedure. The combination procedure lets them manage one recovery and usually reduces surgical costs.
