How do you feel about yourself now that you've had a laser liposuction of your saddlebags?
I feel great. The results are just what I wanted. I feel like my body is proportionate, finally.
What did you want to change about yourself that made you consider plastic surgery?
My saddlebags. I'm tiny. Petite. A size 0. But my outer thighs were so large that I had to buy a size 3 or 5 jean, pant or skirt. I felt out of proportion.
I hated having to dress around my saddlebags, which were just too much for my shape. They defined what I could wear, what I couldn't wear. And of course, how I felt about myself in a bathing suit. They were a real confidence killer.
I felt a little bit guilty about plastic surgery. Is it wrong to want to fix something that bothers you?
How did you hear of Galumbeck Plastic Surgery?
From friends. One who had breast implants. The other, she had had a mommy makeover. They both looked great after their surgeries, and recommended Dr. Galumbeck.
How would you describe your lifestyle?
I'm pretty busy. I don't belong to a gym, but I'm fairly active, walking my dog twice a day, dancing one or two nights a week. I enjoy clothes. And I became engaged to a wonderful guy just before my surgery, so I'm planning my wedding.
What procedures did Dr. Galumbeck suggest to you?
Laser liposuction of the outer thighs - the saddlebags.
Did you feel that you had options, and a voice in your plastic surgery?
The only options I was very concerned about how soon I could have the surgery after my initial consultation with Dr. Galumbeck, and how much time would be taken from activities. Like I said, I'm engaged to be married and this is no time to be out of commission. The liposuction itself is such a straightforward procedure - a simple fix to something I'd always wanted to say goodbye to.
What concerns did you have about your surgery?
Scarring. But the incisions were small. And when I told Dr. Galumbeck about my fears, he told me that he tries to place the scar in the crease beneath the butt.
My other concern was downtime. For the first four days after
the laser liposuction, you wear a compression garment. Honestly, I'd shopped around to two other surgeons in the area who specialize in liposuction. With their style of liposuction, I was advised I would have to wear a compression garment for six to eight weeks. I was thinking, "No way." And that's when I knew I wanted Dr. Galumbeck as my plastic surgeon. .
Would you do it again?
I was sore for a a day or two, but I wasn't unable to do the things I needed to do. I noticed an improvement right away, the bulge in my jeans was gone. Wow, was I excited.
I'd always dreamed of wearing a slim, sophisticated gown on my wedding day. In a fabric that would just drape over me, not stiff or pouffy. Now, I can have that. And jeans that are sized to my waist, and not my thighs.
