With over 17 years of clinical experience and having performed over 5,000 cosmetic surgery procedures, Dr. Matthew Galumbeck has the experience and skills to deliver outstanding cosmetic surgery outcomes.
A native of Virginia Beach, Matthew Galumbeck, MD received his undergraduate degree from the College of William and Mary, and his medical degree from Duke University. He trained in general surgery at Case Western Reserve University, and in plastic surgery at Eastern Virginia Medical School. Further study includes advanced training in body contouring in Paris.
Dr. Galumbeck is an assistant professor of plastic surgery at Eastern Virginia Medical School. His ongoing clinical research includes studies on body contouring and facial rejuvenation. He has taught other physicians throughout the country about new techniques in cosmetic surgery. Dr. Galumbeck has given lectures on cosmetic surgery topics at many national meetings and has published articles in national scientific journals. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Lasers in Medicine and Surgery, and the Virginia Beach Medical Society.
In 2000, Dr. Galumbeck founded Spa Phoenix, the region's first doctor directed spa. Spa Phoenix combines the results-oriented therapeutic protocols of a medispa with the benefits of a classic spa environment promoting well-being through relaxation and pampering. As the spa's medical director, he has formulated treatments that provide clients of Galumbeck Plastic Surgery a pre- and post-operative retreat to take care of the whole patient.
A second outcome of Dr. Galumbeck's plastic surgery practice is the Skin Amnesty® anti-aging skin care system, developed by him to maintain the results of cosmetic plastic surgery patients, and for others, to delay the need for procedures with a daily anti-aging, anti-inflammatory regimen.

Dr. Galumbeck strongly believes in supporting the community that supports his practice. Galumbeck Plastic Surgery donates at least 1% of its annual revenue to non-profit organizations in and around Hampton Roads. These have included United Way of Hampton Roads, The Virginia Aquarium, Seton House, Samaritan House, Chrysler Museum, Young Audiences of Virginia, The Seed Foundation, and Ohef Sholom Temple.
Dr. Galumbeck is committed to innovation that benefits his patients and their plastic surgery outcomes. He was among the first cosmetic plastic surgeons in the region to introduce endoscopes and lasers into his surgical procedures. In 2005, he became the first in Hampton Roads to offer laser-assisted liposuction.
